Free copies of your credit reports now available
Recent legislation has made it easy for consumers in Iowa and 11 other Midwestern states to obtain free copies of their credit reports. A new law requires the three national credit reporting bureaus (Trans Union, Experian and Equifax) to make one free copy of a consumer’s credit report available to them every 12 months. That means you can keep closer tabs on what information is being given to those who request credit information about you.
There are three ways for you to order your report from one, two or all three of the national reporting agencies from a centralized system:

1. Order them online at www.annualcreditreport.com. You will be asked to enter basic information to verify your identity. If you order a report from each of the consumer reporting agencies, each report is ordered separately. The reports are free to consumers and will be delivered online to you. You will have access to the online report for 30 days following the date of order. You may also order your credit score, but keep in mind that reporting agencies may charge a nominal fee for this report.
2. Order via telephone at 1-877-322-8228. you will be required to go through a simple verification process over the phone and reports will be mailed directly to you.
3. Order by mail by filling out the request form located at https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/requestformfinal.pdf. Mail the completed form to: Annual Credit Report Request Service, P.O. Box 105281, Atlanta, GA 30348-5281. Requests are processed within 15 days and mailed back to you.
